OCGFC Announce Michael Tarrant as President-Elect for 2022

Some thrilling news for Old Carey Grammarians Football Club with Michael Tarrant commencing work as President-elect for 2022.

Current President Jeremy Dickson is very pleased to secure Michael for the 2022 Presidency role – Jeremy will remain on the Panther Committee – diverting his efforts towards his passion – the football program – as Director of Football. Jeremy had this to say about the appointment:

“It is a really great day for Old Carey to be welcoming Taz back to the club and into such a purposeful role. Taz is peerless when it comes to connecting with people and building a care-based culture. The club has struggled to meet its volunteer needs across many years and without this, we are not equipped for long stays in the top grade. Our best chance to build some momentum around the off field is through having people like Taz involved. This is a big call to arms for Panthers past and present to rally to build a sustainable club – if you’ve been sitting on the sidelines waiting for a phonecall or thinking about being more involved – now would be a great time to act”.

Michael has had two seasons away from the club after finishing up as Senior Coach at the close of the 2019 season. Having taken a sabbatical, he is excited by the prospect of giving energy to the off-field operations. Michael first joined the club in 2014 coaching our Under 19 program. His tenure included an Unders Premiership in 2015, before progressing to the Senior Coaching role which, he initially shared with Paul O’Connell, before making it his own.

The club wishes to thank Jeremy for his 3 years in the Club Presidency. Overseeing the running of a football club is difficult at the best of times and all the more so amidst a flurry of lockdowns. There is no guidebook(s) on directing clubs through pandemics, so Jeremy has had to conquer many unprecedented uncertainties and challenges.

Michael’s Presidency will be ratified in our November AGM. He will make some further announcements on key appointments shortly.

If you know of anyone who would like to become more involved in taking the Panthers forward – please do not hesitate to contact Michael on 0416 012 181 or email info@oldcareyfc.com.au
