Taz’s brain-child the Panther Coterie hosted its centrepiece event last night (Friday 14 July). Club Sponsor, St Andrews Hotel Fitzroy hosted our 53 guests for a two-course feed, drinks package and our prized guest speaker Paul Connors (AFL Player & Coach Manager). The intimate setting allowed everyone a voice, sometimes that led things astray but it left for some memorable moments. Paul Connors was generous with his time and open to discussing any topic. The audience was left thankful for the opportunity to get an inner-sanctum view of the AFL machine.

Our MC for the evening Paul ‘Prez’ Newton did a great job working the room and we heard from some of our current players, past players, fledgling businesses and favourite supporters. We were blessed to bring in key sponsor Scott from Kay & Burton to auction three great prizes toward the end of the evening and healthy bidding saw these items go for more than their rightful amount. Whilst the exercise wasn’t about money – the evening was financially successful, but moreover we’re certain that word will get around that the event and by extension coterie membership are worthy exercises – we look forward to reconfiguring the space next year for a bigger audience again.
