Annual General Meeting Outcomes 2022
The Old Carey Grammarians Football Club held its 2022 AGM on Wednesday 16th of November.
We were pleased to get most of our old and new committee along, to recognise the work completed in 2022 and endorse our 2023 committee.
Highlights from the Meeting:
The club was able to produce a rather sound balance sheet – an outcome worthy of praise being the first “normal year” since 2019.
The re-establishment of historical revenue streams such as; Canteen and Events plus a focus on Sponsorship allowed the above to be achieved. The 2022 committee were tireless in bringing on a number of key supporters (sponsors and donors) and gave considerable energy to ensuring these relationships are enduring ones.
The club has conducted a thorough Head Coach search for our Men’s & Women’s programs and we welcome Aaron Bailey (M) and Ryan Dobson (W) to Old Carey for 2023. The latter is an exciting development and we look forward to seeing women in Old Carey jumpers again. (Refer to Coach Profiles for more information about our 2023 coaching team).
We also took some time to acknowledge the work of some departing executive committee members – not least Jeremy Dickson who guided the club through the troubling covid period. It would be impossible to quantify the time and effort Jeremy has put into School & Community Football at Carey. Jeremy will work in an expanded capacity at VFL level (Coburg) this year. Tom Chapman & Matt Godden will also play a lesser role in season 2023. Our thanks to the three of you.
The climax of any AGM is the Election of Office Bearers – the following people will hold positions on our Panther Executive for 2023:
| President | Michael Tarrant |
| Vice President | Cam Jones |
| Secretary | Sam Hassett |
| Treasurer | Jim McDonald |
| Executive | Zac Lisle |
| Executive | Nick Andrews |
| Executive | Emilija Blagojevic (NEW) |
We heartily welcome Emilija to our executive committee for 2023. Emilija who is the partner of senior player Harry Hill has been a powerhouse in organising the club events in 2022 (these included Mother’s Day, Legends Lunch, the New Panther Lunch and the Best & Fairest). Our 2022 Executive is indebted to ‘Milj’ for her time and effort, and the executive promotion is nothing but fitting recognition. It is the first time in a number of years that we’ve had a female presence on the committee and we hope to further rectify this imbalance as we move forward.

A further layer of non-executive committee positions is being finalised and more information will be shared about this as the season progresses. If there is something you feel you can offer to make our club reach its potential please reach out – sometimes for us, the hardest thing is asking -or- simply knowing who’s willing. Amongst those hardest-to-fill roles are; Game Day Managers and Team Managers.
We’re all eager for season 2023 to arrive – a four week training block pre-christmas has given us a taste of what is to come. Keep an eye on our Instagram for regular updates.
Go PANTHERS!
